Steven de Graet, whose real name was Steven Segaert, an [[Anabaptism|Anabaptist]] martyr, a native of [[Kortrijk (West-Vlaanderen, Belgium)|Kortrijk]] was executed by burning at the stake at [[Ghent (Oost-Vlaanderen, Belgium)|Ghent]], Belgium, on 7 April 1564, together with his mother Jozyne Steeghers, the widow of Cornelis Segaer(t), commonly called Sijntgen. Particulars are lacking. Both remained steadfast. Their names are found in the martyr hymn "Als men schreef duyst vijfhondert, ende twee en tsestich mede," found in the <em>Lietboecken</em> (see also [[Graet, de, family|Graet, de]]).
