J. A. Raber was an [[Old Order Amish|Old Order Amish]] book dealer, born 8 September 1885, who had maintained a bookstore at his farm, 2 miles south of Charm, [[Holmes County (Ohio, USA)|Holmes County]], Ohio, from 1915 until at least the late 1950s. He supplied Amish readers with numerous German publications and published the following reprints: <em>Die vollständigen Werke Menno Simons</em> (1926), Nagler's <em>Handwörterbuch der heiligen Schrift</em> (1934), the <em>Märtyrer-Spiegel</em> (1950), and numerous smaller works. An annual publication by Raber since 1930 was <em>Der Neue Amerikanische Kalender</em>, which contained a register of Amish ministers.
