Hendrik Bauwens, an [[Anabaptism|Anabaptist]] martyr, was burned at the stake at [[Ghent (Oost-Vlaanderen, Belgium)|Ghent]], [[Belgium|Belgium]], at eleven o'clock, 28 July 1573, on the Vrijdagsmarkt. He was a native of [[Mechelin (Antwerpen, Belgium)|Mechelen]], a lace-maker by trade. His name is not found in [[Braght, Tieleman Jansz van (1625-1664)|van Braght]], [[Martyrs' Mirror|<em>Martyrs' Mirror;</em>]] but the names of [[Jacob van der Wege (d. 1573)|Jacob van der Weghe]] and [[Frans van Leuvene (d. 1573)|Fransoys van Leuvene]], who died as martyrs with him, are given there. Hendrik Bauwens, an Anabaptist martyr, was burned at the stake at Ghent, Belgium, at eleven o'clock, 28 July 1573, on the Vrijdagsmarkt. He was a native of Mechelen, a lace-maker by trade. His name is not found in van Braght, <em>Martyrs' Mirror;</em> but the names of Jacob van der Weghe and Fransoys van Leuvene, who died as martyrs with him, are given there.
