Kathryn Sommers Troyer was a missionary in India (Madhya Pradesh, 1923-1936) and Puerto Rico (1944-1967), with the Mennonite Board of Missions and Charities (Mennonite Church). She was born in Kokomo, IN, and married George D. Troyer on 12 July 1914. Even though her formal education was limited she became a capable Bible student and linguist. She was particularly effective in Bible studies and other ministries among women in India and Puerto Rico.
Following the Troyers' return to Goshen, IN, in 1967, Kathryn became actively involved with Hispanic people and assisted in the beginning of the Hispanic Mennonite congregation in Goshen.
