Zeeuwsche Sociëteit (Zeeland Conference). In September 1685 an attempt was made to found a Lamist Mennonite conference in the Dutch province of Zeeland in order to meet the increasing need for capable preachers in the churches. Middelburg took the initiative and invited the congregations of Cadzand, Zierikzee, Brouwershaven, and Aardenburg to support the plan.
