Janneken van Houte (Houtte), an Anabaptist martyr, not found in van Braght, Martyrs' Mirror, but likely identical with Janneken op Dextelaer, named by van Braght. She was born at Antwerp, Belgium, and belonged to the Mennonite congregation in this town. Janneken, a jonckmeyssen (a young or unmarried woman), was bound in a sack and drowned at the Steen castle at Antwerp on 5 or 6 July 1557. This martyr may be the author of the song "Verhuecht verblijt groot ende cleyn" (Be glad and rejoice, both great and small) found in the Lietboecxken van den Offer des Heeren.
