Maeyken (Mayken) Cadts (Kats, de Catte), a daughter of Joos de Catte, an [[Anabaptism|Anabaptist]] martyr of [[Wervik (West-Vlaanderen, Belgium)|Wervik]], [[Belgium|Belgium]], was seized on 20 May 1559 by the margrave of [[Antwerp (Belgium)|Antwerp]] with five other Anabaptist women and was drowned in the Steen castle after a courageous confession of faith on 19 or 29 July 1559 (not during the night of 18 June as related by [[Braght, Tieleman Jansz van (1625-1664)|van Braght]]).
