Clackamus County, Oregon Amish Mennonite settlement (now extinct) began in 1898, when several Amish families from Arthur, Illinois, settled near Hubbard, with Jonas J. Kauffman as the leading bishop. Several families from Iowa joined the group, including minister Jacob Swartzendruber. The congregation was discontinued in 1907 after Bishop Kauffman died. Many families moved to Yamhill County, and others joined the Zion Mennonite Church at Hubbard, in Marion County.
