Jan Cooman (Koopman, i.e., merchant), an Anabaptist martyr, was burned at the stake at Antwerp, Belgium on 25 May 1569, together with Jan Hasebroek, Hans Moens, and Herman de Timmerman. Jan Cooman was sentenced to death because he had been rebaptized and held meetings in his house, in which he had exhorted those present. From this fact we may suppose that he was a preacher.
