Grietgen (Grietje van Brüssel), an Anabaptist martyr of Brussels, Belgium. Her official name was Margaretha Wynants, widow of Pieter Goossensz. She was burned at the stake at Antwerp on the evening of Pentecost, 22 May 1575, with three fellow believers, with tongue screws. They were put to death, as the sentence states, because they had been rebaptized and had attended Anabaptist meetings. The letters they wrote in prison were destroyed in the Spanish revolt at Antwerp on 4 November 1576.
