Hans Bauer (d. 1749), a native of Switzerland, went with other Mennonites to Pennsylvania between 1711 and 1717, and was one of the first settlers of Hereford Township, Berks County, near Bally, with many descendants among the American Mennonites of today. His grave, without a monument, can still be identified in the Schwenckfeld cemetery near Clayton, Pennsylvania. His wife Anna (d. 1761) is also buried there.
