They had at least four children. Gerhard died 26 November 1796 in Ellerwald Trift 1, Prussia.

Gerhard was ordained as elder of the Elbing-Ellerwald Mennonite Church on 11 January 1778 and served until his death in 1796. His son-in-law was Peter Regier (b. 1776), elder of the Grosswerder Mennonite Church.
