The Berean Mennonite Church began in Phoenix, Arizona in 1969. Noah Yoder was the founding minister; Lyle Kropf was ordained as minister on 19 January 1970. The congregation initially affiliated with the Bible Mennonite Fellowship which was primarily based in Oregon. It became unaffiliated during the 1980s. A meetinghouse was purchased in May 1970 at 2008 West Ocotillo Road, an Hispanic area of Phoenix. In addition to several local outreach programs, the congregation began a mission in Northern Mexico. Iglesia Evangélica Menonita, an unaffiliated Mennonite congregation under the leadership of Gustavo Verdugo was formally established in Ahome, Sinaloa, Mexico in 1977.

In 1988 the Berean congregation decided to relocate from Phoenix to Wickenburg, approximately 100 km (60 miles) northwest of Phoenix. They purchased a former Mormon meetinghouse, and remodeled part of the building to serve as a Christian elementary school. In 1990 the congregation became part of the Midwest Mennonite Fellowship.

In 2014 the church had 43 members and was a member of the Nationwide Fellowship Churches. The ministerial team was comprised of Bishop Lyle A. Kropf and Ministers Brian Kropf and Daryl Kropf.
