Jacquemijne de Wilde, an Anabaptist martyr, widow of the martyr Gillis Rooze, was imprisoned in February 1568 at Bruges, Belgium, together with 13 other Mennonites, when their meeting was surprised by the police. Nine of them recanted, but Jacquemijne remained faithful to the end and died as a martyr at the stake between 13 April and 28 July 1568.
