Fridli Schuhmacher, a shoemaker of Zollikon near Zürich, Switzerland, who was baptized on 22 January 1525, by Johannes Brötli at the village fountain of Hirslanden. His wife was baptized a few days later by Blaurock. In February 1525 Brötli addressed two letters to Fridli, who was apparently one of the leaders of the first Anabaptist congregation of Zollikon. Arrested soon after, Fridli recanted, but when released he continued his activity. In July 1525, he was again in prison. The last information on him is dated 9 August 1525, when he confessed before the judges that he had been baptized, which was "not against God," and that he would stand by it.
