Cornelis Polterman (Polderman), also called Polderman de Zeeuw because he was a native of the Dutch province of Zeeland, was a very active Anabaptist of the Münsterite wing. During 1533 he preached in Middelburg, Dutch province of Zeeland, from which he escaped in 1534. At this time he was a disciple of Melchior Hoffman . While Hoffman was the Elijah, Polderman was looked upon by the believers (or thought himself to be) Enoch, the two celestial messengers who should precede the coming Lord; from Münster he came to Strasbourg to find Melchior Hoffman, was arrested and cross-examined on 22 November 1535, and again on 3 December, this time in the presence of Bucer and Capito. Of some significance is his letter, which was read to the council on 26 November 1533 (printed in Röhrich, 74; Cornelius II, 373).
