Pieter den Ouden (Old Peter), also called Pieter (den) Oudeg(h)od(t), an Anabaptist martyr who was burned at the stake at Kortrijk (Courtrai) in Flanders on 30 April 1569, after being cruelly tor­tured three times (van Braght's Martyrs' Mirror gives only the year). He was executed with five other Anabaptists, and died with the words, "O Lord, stand by Thy servant and strengthen him in this last extremity, and do not hold this evil deed to their account, but convert them; for they know not what they do." He was a native of Kortrijk, living as a cabinetmaker at Meenen (Menin), where he was arrested. His property was confiscated. He had been (re)baptized in 1568.
