Gerrit (or Gheraert) Janssen Duynherder, an Anabaptist martyr, born at Tongherloo in Brabant, was burned at the stake with Hendrik Alewijns and Hans Marijns on 9 February 1569, on the square at Middelburg in Zeeland after being strangled. He was seized one night at Souburg, not far from Middelburg, and was severely racked on 14 September 1568. He was about 50 years old.
