Verdragh der Broeders tot Embden (Agreement of the Brethren at Emden) is the agreement made on 4 April 1579 at Emden in [[East Friesland (Niedersachsen, Germany)|East Friesland]], Germany, by [[Ries, Hans de (1553–1638)|Hans de Ries]] and seven [[Waterlanders|Waterlander]] leaders, representatives of the Island (i.e., De Rijp), Purmeend, [[Amsterdam (Noord-Holland, Netherlands)|Amsterdam]], and Rotterdam on the one hand and the congregation of Emden on the other. This agreement was very important in the development of the Waterlander branch. Verdragh der Broeders tot Embden (Agreement of the Brethren at Emden) is the agreement made on 4 April 1579 at Emden in East Friesland, Germany, by Hans de Ries and seven Waterlander leaders, representatives of the Island (i.e., De Rijp), Purmeend, Amsterdam, and Rotterdam on the one hand and the congregation of Emden on the other. This agreement was very important in the development of the Waterlander branch.
