Doornkaat (Dorencate, Doorenkaate, or ten Doornkaat), a Mennonite family which is found from the beginning of the 17th century in the district of Twente, Dutch province of Overijssel, where Hendrick Dorencate (d. 1755) became a preacher of the Old Flemish congregation of Hengelo in 1729, in which Hendrik Engbertsz Doorencate was a preacher 1735-ca. 1779. In later times this family lived especially in the Dutch province of Groningen and in East Friesland, Germany.
