Christoffel Buyse (Buyze), an Anabaptist martyr, was according to the song, "Een Liedeken van 41 Vrienden" (Offer des Heeren), executed at Ghent, Belgium, in 1569, with four other martyrs. Verheyden, who studied the sources in Ghent, did not find any mention of him.
