Winsum, a village in the Dutch province of Groningen (coordinates: 53° 19′ 52.32″ N, 6° 30′ 56.52″ E)Leenaert Bouwens baptized 7 persons here in 1554-56. At this time or soon after a Men­nonite congregation may have been founded, which later belonged to the Flemish branch. For further particulars see Obergum, a twin town of Winsum. The congregation was sometimes called Winsum and sometimes Obergum.
