Gerard (Gerardus) de Wind b. 1685 at Vlissingen, d. 1752 at Middelburg, married to Elisabeth Beek­hoven. He was trained for the ministry by Adriaan van Eeghem at Middelburg and by Galenus Abrahamsz and the Remonstrant seminary at Amsterdam. He also studied medicine in Utrecht. Returning to Middelburg, where he practiced med­icine, he became also a preacher of the Middelburg Mennonite congregation in 1705, serving until his death. He published Lijkreden over het Afsterven van A. van Eeghem (Vlissingen, 1709), Johannes Kiens redenen des geloojs onderzocht (Middelburg, 1711), Verhandeling over de bijzondere genade Gods (Amsterdam, 1725), and Verhandeling van Gods algemeene genade (Amsterdam, 1728). He also edited the theological writings of van Eeghem: De Christelijke Godgeleerdheid van A.V.E. (Vlissingen, 1710). De Wind was attacked by G. van Hemert, his Reformed colleague at Middelburg, in G. de Wind uit ziyne verhandeling van Godts algemeene Genade ontmaskert (Middelburg, 1730).
