Iglesia Torre Fuerte (Iowa City, Iowa, USA)
The Iglesia Torre Fuerte, Iowa City, Iowa, USA, began in 2010 when Max and Gloria Villatoro moved from Muscatine to launch an outreach to Hispanic Christians in Iowa City. They held the first service at First Mennonite Church of Iowa City on 5 May 2010.
In 2015, Max Villatoro was deported from the United States in a highly publicized case. The basis for his deportation stemmed from a 17-year-old drunk driving charge prior to his marriage and becoming a Mennonite pastor. The family finally reunited in 2019 in Gloria Villatoro's native Mexico.
Sometimes the congregation is called Iglesia Menonita Torre Fuerte.
In 2023 the congregation was part of the Central Plains Conference of Mennonite Church USA.
