Bloomfield Mennonite Church (Bloomfield, Iowa, USA)
The Bloomfield Mennonite Church southeast of Bloomfield, Iowa, USA was established in 1995 as a mission congregation of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. The impetus followed the conversion of an Amish-background man from the Bloomfield area at the Jamesport, Missouri congregation. Both the Colonization Board and Mission Board of the denomination approved the formation of a congregation. Families gradually moved from Missouri, Kansas, Mississippi, and elsewhere.
For a time, the small group traveled to Jamesport on Sundays for worship. By the end of 1995, the group met one week at the local mission house, and the other week traveled to Jamesport. Minister Cecil Nightingale and his family arrived in November 1996, providing the first local ordained leadership.
In 1998 the congregation bought five acres of land southeast of Bloomfield and began constructing a church in November of that year.
The congregation also operates the Bloomfield Mennonite School.
In 2020 the congregation was part of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. The ministers were Weldon Becker and Daryl Toews.
