Youth Homes
Youth Homes are organized as members of the Mennonite Child Care Association (MCCA), a program entity of Mennonite Health Association. The Mennonite Health Association aims to promote an integrating philosophy of health care within the church, in that church-sponsored health care programs both demonstrate and proclaim the wholeness of the healing Christ.
Agencies affiliated with the Mennonite Child Care Association seek to provide a range of services to troubled children and their families. Services range from counseling to residential treatment. Residential services provide group settings in which children can live and work on the problems that caused them to be separated from their families. Day treatment, foster care, independent living for older youth, and group homes are also offered.
The management board of a Mennonite-related youth home usually is made up of local church and community people in the service area. Support for the programs comes from service payments, government grants, and private contributions from both within and beyond the service area.
Members or eligible for membership of the MCCA are: Zenith Camp of the Ozarks, Ozark, AR; Salem Children's Home, Flanagan, Illinois; Argentine Youth Services, Kansas City, Kansas; Edgewood Children's Center, Webster Groves, Missouri; Grace Children's Home, Henderson, NE; The Adriel School, West Liberty, Ohio; Craigwood Youth Services, Ailsa Craig, Ontario; Nairn Family Homes, Ailsa Craig, Ontario; Red Lake Children's Homes, Red Lake, Ontario; The Lighthouse Youth Center, Inc., Marion, Pennsylvania; and Millersville Youth Village, Millersville, Pennsylvania.
