Wouter van Stoelwijk (d. 1541)
Wouter van Stoelwij(c)k (of Stolwijk in the Dutch province of South Holland?), an Anabaptist martyr, was burned at the stake at Brussels, Belgium, on 24 March 1541. Van Braght says he was executed at Vilvoorde, but this is a mistake. Van Braght also relates that he was arrested in 1541, but this too is wrong: he was captured on 11 February 1538, and imprisoned at the castle of Vilvoorde for more than three years. Particulars are lacking. In prison Wouter wrote a long letter which was published under the title Een trostelycke Vermaninghe (1558) and which is found in the Martyrs' Mirror.
