West Point Church of God in Christ, Mennonite (West Point, Mississippi, USA)
The West Point Church of God in Christ, Mennonite congregation near West Point, Mississippi, USA was established in 1975. The congregation started when families began to move to the area in 1973 from Leland, Mississippi to farm. Other families soon followed.
In March 1973, the Minister Jona Dyck family moved to the Okolona area 25 miles north of West Point, and families began to meet for worship. In August 1973, the group rented a house for services. In June 1975, the two groups in Okolona and West Point decided to form separate congregations. The West Point families built a school north of West Point that they also used for Sunday services. The first service was held in it on 7 September 1975.
A new church building on the same property was completed and dedicated on 13 April 1980.
Farming became more difficult, and some farms were lost in the early 1980s. Families began to move into furniture and cabinet making, fish farming, dairying, trucking, and roofing.
In 2020 the congregation was part of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. The ministers were Brad Wedel, Mark Koehn, Errol Wedel, and Marc Schrock.
