Kilian Volckaimer was a furrier of the village of Grosswalbur in Franken, Germany, who was won by Hans Hut for Anabaptism in the summer of 1526, and became an active Anabaptist traveling apostle. With Hut and other colleagues including Eukarius Kellerman, Joachim Mertz, and a certain Sebastian, he traveled along the valley of the Main River and its tributary valleys, inviting men and women to the Anabaptist meetings, where Hut was the chief preacher. They won many followers, first in the district of Königsberg in Franken, and then in Thuringia proper. The last recorded trace of Volckairner is found in the letter of the Nürnberg city council to Margrave Casimir of Brandenburg, dated 26 March 1527.
