Vliermaal, a village near Hasselt in the Belgian province of Limburg (coordinates: 50° 50' 24" N, 5° 25' 46" E), where in 1538 a number of Anabaptists were sentenced to death. Some Anabaptists from Aachen, Germany, and from England had recently settled in the region of Hasselt. According to somewhat inexact information nine men were burned at the stake and ten women executed by drowning. These victims were apparently Anabaptists. Their names are not given, with one exception: Jannes van Rommerswael, who was executed at Curingen near Hasselt, 14 June 1538.
