Valle Esperanza Colony (Bolivia)
Valle Esperanza Colony, also referred to as Hoffnungsthal, is located about 140 km (90 miles) northeast of Santa Cruz in Bolivia. It was established by Old Colony Mennonite settlers from Mexico in 1975. Bishop Johann Loewen was the colony's church leader in 1986. In 1986 the colony had 1,400 inhabitants, of whom 607 were baptized church members. This colony was one of the most prosperous Old Colony settlements in Bolivia, partly due to good land.
