Three Rivers Mennonite Church (Dumas, Arkansas, USA)
The Three Rivers Mennonite Church west of Dumas, Arkansas, USA was established in 1990. The congregation started when families from the Leland, Mississippi congregation began to move to the area in 1989. They were attracted by land leveling jobs in the rich delta land suitable for cotton, rice, and soybeans near where the Arkansas River fed into the Mississippi River. Later some families engaged in chicken or catfish farming.
Initially, the families met in homes twice a month and traveled to the Leland congregation the other Sundays. Then they began to use the community room in a local bank, followed by renting a church in Gould, Arkansas, in February 1990. Chester Esau, a minister, and his family moved to Dumas that same month. On 3 June 1990, the young congregation organized.
The congregation purchased 11 acres of land ten miles west of Dumas in 1995. At first, only the school met there; a new church building was opened on 11 April 1999.
The Hill and Dale Christian School began in 1989, first in a small one-room school building, then in a trailer, followed by a double-wide trailer. In 1995 the large trailer was moved to the new property, and two classrooms were added.
In 2020 the congregation was part of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. The ministers were Evan Kramer, Chester Esau, and Greg Miller.
