Suvorovka Mennonite Settlement (Stavropol, Russia)

Suvorovka (Ssuvorovka), a Mennonite settlement in North Caucasia in the province of Stavropol. It was a daughter colony sponsored by the Zagradovka, Kuban, and other settlements. Two villages were founded, Nikolaifeld in 1894, with settlers from Zagradovka, and Grossfürstental in 1899, a subsidiary of the Mennonite Brethren Church of the Kuban. After 1899 they also built Lavarov and Arrival. At the time of the settlement there were 89 families with about 500 persons and some 100,000 acres of land. The statistics of 1925 indicated a population of 1,000 with an average of about 22 acres each.
