Steinbach Evangelical Mennonite Church (Steinbach, Manitoba, Canada)
The Steinbach Evangelical Mennonite congregation in Steinbach, Manitoba began services and organized in 1874. It is the oldest Mennonite congregation in Steinbach. Peter Toews is considered the founding leader of the group. The congregation originated through immigration from Russia.
Originally services were held in the local school building. The first church building was occupied in 1911, with a subsequent building program in 1959.
The congregation has been affiliated with the Evangelical Mennonite Conference. The language of worship is English; the transition from German occurred in the 1950s.

Steinbach Evangelical (Kleine Gemeinde) Mennonite Church, located at the east end of Steinbach, Manitoba, was erected in 1912. Formerly meetings were held in the school building. The total baptized membership in 1955 was 400. A new church to seat 850 was in process of building near the 1912 church. Services were conducted in both German and English, sometimes concurrently. The baptized membership in 1958 was 490, with Archie Penner as the leading minister, assisted by P. D. Friesen, Jacob P. Dueck, and Benjamin D. Reimer. Heinrich Toews and David Schellenberg were serving in traveling evangelism and missionary work.
