Spring Creek Hutterite Colony was founded in 1961 as a division from the Maxwell (South Dakota) Hutterite Colony

Sundale Hutterite Colony in Milnor, North Dakota, is a daughter colony.

In 2017 the Spring Creek Hutterite Colony was a Schmiedeleut Group 2 colony. The community is in South Dakota but its mailing address is in North Dakota, which the nearest postal outlet.
