Sonrise Christian Fellowship in Penticton, British Columbia began in November 2001 when a small group of people began meeting for prayer and Bible study. By spring 2002 the group had grown to the point where they began meeting for Sunday worship services. Leadership was provided by Monty and Carolyn Scott. In 2003 the church had an attendance of 50, at which time it joined the British Columbia (BC) Conference of Mennonite Brethren (MB) Churches. In 2004 Monty Scott resigned and leadership was provided by both Jeremy and Jackie Kliever on an interim basis. In 2005 the congregation had 48 members and an average weekly attendance of 60. The congregation left the BC Conference of MB Churches in 2007 and began meeting as a non-denominational church meeting in a home church environment.
