Sitter, de, family

De Sitter (de Sutter, de Zuttere), a Dutch Mennonite family, originally living in Flanders, Belgium. Some of them, who were farmers, moved to Dutch Zeeland Flanders in the early 17th century and joined the Aardenburg congregation. In the 17th and 18th centuries the de Sitters, then usually engaged in business such as textiles, one of them a manufacturer of white lead paint, are found in Rotterdam, where some of them were deacons of the Mennonite church.
