The Manitoba Missions and Church Extension began a church planting project in Selkirk on 29 January 1984. The congregation was officially chartered on 2 June 1985 and joined the Manitoba Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches in 1986. The church used rented facilities (1985–1988) at Dufferin Avenue and then bought a meeting house on Main Street in 1989.
