Rugged Tree Community Church (McDougall, Ontario, Canada)

The Rugged Tree Community Church near Parry Sound, Ontario, Canada, began in 2012 as a a gathering place for persons committed to pursuing peace, justice and reconciliation among Canada's First Nations. Derek and Tiffani Parenteau spent ten years in Toronto, Ontario, where they met many First People trapped in difficult circumstances. From this experience they felt called to serve First People’s in a way that would better reflect the good news of the Christian faith.

Rugged Tree got its name from the Iroquois Tree of Peace and the biblical Tree of Life described in John's Revelation. Rugged Tree has facilitated youth programs, addiction prevention programs and restorative justice programs in collaboration with community partners. It has also provided spiritual support based on the Christian tradition.

The Rugged Tree program has been sponsored under the umbrella of the Mennonite Brethren C2C Network.
