Riverhurst Community Church (Riverhurst, Saskatchewan, Canada)
Riverhurst, Saskatchewan, is a small village with a nearby ferry terminal on the south shore of Diefenbaker Lake in the rural Municipality of Maple Bush No. 224. This is a vacation and cottage community about 125 km. northwest of Moose Jaw. In April 2010 Willard and Sheryl Hasmatali purchased the empty village United Church building for $20,000.00. The Hasmatakli’s vision was to set up a prayer and retreat centre at Diefenbaker Lake. Three months later, in July, the building was opened as a church under the name Riverhurst Community Church. Pastoral and preaching duties are shared between Hasmatakli and co-pastor Doug Rempel, both members of the Prairie Winds Church, Moose Jaw, and Duane Sims. Every Sunday, after service, a lunch is served to all who come. Average attendance is 20-30 persons.
On 1 June 2014 the congregation held its charter service and officially joined the Saskatchewan Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches.
