Regier, Peter (1825-1897)

Peter Regier, minister and elder: born 1 December 1825 in Tiegenhagen, Prussia, the fifth of fifteen children of Peter Regier (1798-1856) and Margaretha (Regier) Regier (1799-1861). Peter married his first cousin Maria Wiebe (17 January 1831, Tiegenhagen, Prussia - 27 April 1888, Altebabke, Prussia) on 18 October 1849 in Tiegenhagen, Prussia. She was the daughter of Abraham Wiebe (1763-1833) and Maria (Regier) Wiebe (1801-1832). Peter and Maria had eight children, with all but the youngest reaching adulthood: Peter, Cornelius, Maria, Margaretha, Agathe, Abraham and Gerhard. Peter died 3 March 1897 in Czattkau, Prussia.

Peter was a farmer and estate holder in Kalteherberge and later Altebabke, Prussia. His father Peter was the elder of the Grosswerder Mennoniten Gemeinde in Prussia. Peter was ordained to the ministry in 1856 and served as elder of the Fürstenwerder Mennonite Church from 1 February 1874 until 1891.
