Der Reformer und Agriculturist und Allgemeiner Neuigkeits-Berichter, a weekly (first and for a short time issued as a daily) local newspaper (16 x 22 in., 4 pp.) of general interest, published from 4 July 1867 to at least 1879 in German by John G. Stauffer, a Mennonite printer and publisher living at Milford Square in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, reported here only because it was published by a Mennonite (General Conference Mennonite) and had a considerable circulation among Mennonites in Eastern Pennsylvania. It is listed in a brief report in Zur Heimath for 1 October 1879, in an anonymous article, "Ein flüchtiger Blick auf die mennonitische Literatur der Gegenwart." It was merged with Patriot und Reformer in 1878 or 1879, and continued publication by John G. Stauffer to October 1886, by U. S. Stauffer and A. B. Shelly for one further year, by Daniel Stauffer 1887-1905, and by David M. George to 14 July 1910. Der Reformer und Pennsylvania Advertiser was a weekly, published in English and German, edited by John G. Stauffer and A. B. Shelly, and published by the Mennonitischer Druckverein, which appeared 1867-71 (?). Der Bucks County Patriot, still another weekly paper, also apparently edited by John G. Stauffer, appeared under this name 4 July 1867-77, then as Der Bucks County Patriot und Reformer und Agriculturist 1878-80, as Der Bucks County Patriot 6 May 1880-81, and again as Der Patriot und Reformer 1881-1910. The above listing of titles and dates may not be wholly accurate, as May E. Olson indicates, who furnished much of the information.
