Premont (Texas, USA)
Premont, Texas, a town (population was 2,500 in 1959, 2,772 in 2000) located in the southern part of Jim Wells County in southern Texas. There are 59 Mennonites living within shopping distance of Premont, who represent the Mennonite Church (MC) and Mennonite Brethren (MB) groups, each of which has a church. There have been Mennonites in this area for 30 years. The surrounding area is largely agricultural and ranch country, with some oil and gas. The Mennonite Brethren maintain a mission for Latin Americans.
