The Pleasant View Mennonite Church, northwest of Marion, Pennsylvania, began as the result of the Marion Mennonite Church's outreach initiatives in 1907 and 1908. In late 1908, some families asked the Marion church to erect a meetinghouse in their area. A Mennonite farmer donated an acre of land, and the Marion church undertook the project in 1909. It dedicated the building on 15 August 1909. Twenty-two persons became charter members of the new group, including minister George W. Ernst.

The congregation began Sunday school immediately and had Young People's Bible Meetings by 1912. It held worship services every two weeks until at least into the 1950s.

On 28 September 2017, the Franklin Mennonite Conference voted to become a bishop district of the Lancaster Mennonite Conference. This meant a change to Pleasant View's regional conference relationship.
