Penner, Jakob (1831-1909)

Jakob Penner, an elder of the Mennonite congregation at Orlofferfelde in West Prussia, Germany, b. 1 January 1831, d. 30 January 1909, was ordained elder in 1882. The revision of the Catechism by the Mennonites of West Prussia was chiefly his responsibility; he also shared in the production of a new hymnal. A most significant contribution was the union he brought about between the Frisian and Flemish branches.
