Peace Mennonite Church of East Greenville (East Greenville, Pennsylvania, USA)
The Peace Mennonite Church of East Greenville was located in the building that formerly housed Shalom Christian Fellowship in East Greenville, Pennsylvania. In 2005, after a number of families left the area, the Shalom congregation decided to close for a time of rest and revisioning. The church reopened in March 2006 as Peace Mennonite Church with some former Shalom families participating.
Sunday morning gathering were intimate with around 20 persons gathered. Peace Mennonite placed special emphasis on learning about and praying regularly for many countries around the globe, as well as those who lived in the neighborhood. The congregation was a supporter of the MAMA project (whose founder, Priscilla Benner, was a leader in the church); and also befriended persons with disabilities who lived near the church.
The congregation remained very small, and closed with a final service on Easter in 2011. The building was converted into a community center.
The congregation’s pastor throughout was David K. Benner; he had also served on the pastoral team at Shalom Christian Fellowship.
