Orvel (d. 1561)
Orvel, an Anabaptist martyr. Van Braght's Martyrs' Mirror contains an account of three martyrs, Orvel, Jan, and Pleunis, who were drowned in the Rhine at Cologne, Germany, in 1561. This account is inexact and incomplete. Orvel and Jan were very likely the same person, with the name Johann von Orvel (Johann von Orvall). He was a cobbler. On 29 November 1561, after severe torture, he was drowned in the Rhine at Cologne with the tailor Plonius from Emmerich.
