Christian Oberlen (Oberli), an Anabaptist martyr, put to death at Bern, Switzerland on 17 September 1543. Particulars are lacking. This martyr is not listed in the Dutch editions of 1660 and 1685 of van Braght's Martyrs' Mirror, but is found with some other Bernese martyrs in the German edition published at Ephrata in 1748. A Peter Oberley (Oberli) is named in a letter dated 13 June 1711 by the Dutch ambassador Runckel. He was an Amish elder in Switzerland; in 1762 he made a tour of the congregations in the Palatinate, Germany.
