The North Star Church of God in Christ, Mennonite at Hyas, Saskatchewan began services in 1979, and formally organized in 1980. The first building was occupied in 1980. David Penner is considered the founding leader of the group. The language of worship is English. North Star also operates North Star School.

Ministers Larry Bartel and Grant Penner served in 2001 as non-salaried congregational leaders.
