North Georgia Church of God in Christ, Mennonite (Canon, Georgia, USA)
The North Georgia Church of God in Christ, Mennonite congregation east of Canon, Georgia, USA was established in 1994. The congregation started when two couples from Louisville, Georgia explored the area about 100 miles north of the Pinecrest and Harmony Springs congregations. The first families moved to the area in early 1994.
Initially, the small group met in homes, but soon a small building on the Allen Koehn property was fixed up to serve as a school and church. Other families arrived from Kansas, Florida, Alabama, North Carolina, and Georgia. The congregation then met in the American Legion building in Lavonia, before moving to its present location in about 2000.
In 2020 the congregation was part of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. The ministers were Grant Unruh and Joseph Dyck.
